Homeschool Band
The Homeschool band meets on Tuesdays at the Parkdale Grace Fellowship Church 2608–1 Ave NW. Senior Band (Students with 2 or more years Experience) meets from 12:30 till 1:30 Intermediate Band (1 or more years experience) meets from 1:30 till 2:30 Beginner Band meets from 2:30 till 3:30. Recommended youngest age is 10 or grade 4. We begin each year on the Tuesday following the Long Weekend in September, and strive to complete lessons before the May long weekend. The focus of this group is to provide a fun musical experience. Students achieve a high level of satisfaction when they only know a few notes and already the group can create harmony. Please note this is a band program that means wind instruments – flute, trumpet, clarinet etc. There will be approximately 30 lessons with a minimum of 2 concerts throughout the year. Students will learn and perform a variety of music including sacred, pop and classical. We will also study basic theory. Parents are invited to participate at no extra charge. Students in Senior band are welcome to sit in on the Intermediate and Beginner bands and learn an additional instrument, also at no extra charge. Fees are 250$ per student per year. Students must provide their own instruments. St John’s Music and Long and McQuade Music provide reasonable rental and rent to own fees. The Band program used is Standard of Excellence.
