G'day everyone!
The question this week is another personal one, so your answer doesn't have to be elaborate to get a candy, but I would like some effort put in. If you'd be more comfortable to answer in writing, feel free to post a comment, otherwise you can share in person in class. Here it is: Why did you decide to learn to play the instrument you are currently playing in band?

Band was the only part of school that I liked (the rest was painfully boring; too easy). Back then I played percussion and loved it. I was worried when we decided to homeschool that the kids would miss out on band and music. A couple years ago a homeschool mom put out a request for boys who wanted to learn violin (her son played). I didn't know about the homeschool band then yet, and thought it sounded like a good opportunity to get P into music. Soon W wanted to play. Before I knew it, we had 5 violins (in 5 different sizes) hanging on the wall! Eventually I decided to pick up the full size and try it myself.

Its kind of a funny story. Originally I wanted to learn the tuba, but it was too expensive. I decided to learn the sax instead because I also liked the sound of the saxophone.
