Another good week of lessons, excellent work everyone!!
Posture. Our bodies were created to work best when everything is lined up. As instrumentalists the first thing to remember is to sit up tall; this is the best way to have the most air possible. If we hunch up or lean back in our chairs, not only will we run out of breath sooner, we will also not create the best sound. Clarinets, remember to hold your instrument bell just past your knees, think of a string tied between them and the clarinet rests just above that. Flutes, no resting your arm on your chair back! I know it's hard as you develop these new stances but you will thank me later. Trumpets, bells up!! And, everybody, both feet flat on the floor. We'll all be tired for a while but we are building muscle and discipline and we are getting stronger!. Practice Seniors Your 3 pieces plus your green book up to number 15. Long tones Scales 30 minutes every day Intermediate Blue book up to number 9 Trumpets, remember to practice with your mutes 30 minutes every day Beginners 10 minutes or more every day Concentrate on memorizing the fingerings for those first 4 notes
